Dialysis required?

Hi My Father is 57 years old and has been suffering from High BP for more than 15 years and is also diabetic. He is also having kidney disorder and has been taking medicines for long time. He is on medication for all three problems. This time when we got his KFT done the creatinine level has raised to 6.1 which was 5.6   8 days back. This was a large raise compared to he normally has in his past. Doctor is asking him to get ready for Dialysis. Does he really need dialysis at this time? I just wanted to be sure if he need one at this time. Let me know what all test or reports are required before we come to final concussion for dialysis.

Has his GFR been tested?  This is an estimate, but it is a decent sign of how much (percent) function his kidneys have left.  I hope things go well for you and your father.
