Do I have a kidney problem

by SissyMelissy, Jun 26, 2009 07:55PM
I have been very sick to my stomach for the last few months. I dont always vomit but occasionally I do. I also have painful bowell movements and cramps when I need to go the bathroom. I am very fatigued and my vision is getting worse. I also have been getting more frequent headaches. I have had five pregnancy tests done because the doctor keeps thinking I am pregnant. They all came back negative. My last visit to the doctor showed protien in my urine at 1%. The doctor told me to come back and give him another sample for the lab and in only two days it has gone up to 4%.
I have an apointment with a urolagist. What could be the problem?

Did your doctor also order a GFR blood test?  I hope you can get a kidney ultrasound.  Also, have you been checked for a fissure or hemorrhoids regarding the painful defecation (b.m.s)?  Have you had a head cat scan for your headaches?

Are you swollen at all?  When you said your doctor thinks you are pregnant is it because you have gained weight?  When I was diagnosed with my kidney problem I swelled up and gained 70 pounds.  People were asking me if I was having twins.

The protein in your urine - how did they check it?  Did you have a 24 hour urine test done?  That is where you take a bottle home and collect all of your urine for 24 hours.  That would be the best way to check it if you have not had this done yet.

I would wait to see what the tests say and what the urologist says.  If you do not find your answers and still feel bad don't give up!  Maybe something else is going on but you really know your body and know when something is wrong.  Best of luck!
