Gross/Microscpoic Hematuria in Toddler

by clkappel, Oct 14, 2009 10:12PM
My daughter is 2 1/2 years old and has been experiencing gross/microscopic hematuria for several months now.  Only once did her urinalysis results indicate an infection, which she was treated for over a month.  She has continued to urinate blood, both visibly and microscopic.  She has had a ultrasound, CT, and VCUG testing.  The only thing noted was that in the ultrasound one of her kidneys was smaller and has slightly less function than the other.  She has continued to experience pain while urinating as well, especially when there is visible blood.  Her most recent urinalysis tests have shown protein levels at 30.  Should I be concerned and pushing for more investigation?  She is only 2 1/2 and I do not want to tramatize her with doctor visits, but then again, kidneys are nothing to mess with, and I do not want to see her in pain.  I am not sure where to go from here, or if I am over-reacting to this. Any advice is appreciated.
