How long should I expect a stone to stay in my bladder before is finishes passing???

Hi. Today was not my lucky day. I am in the process of passing my first kidney stone. I had the CT at the ER and it showed a 3 mm stone working its way to my bladder.   I also had blood in my urine when tested. It must have arrived this evening b'cuz I was finally able to stop vomiting...and pain lessened.  I was wondering if any of you can give me some input as to how long it took for your stones to make the final departure from your bladder. I am also wondering...when it does...does it ever just take only one urination to get it out...or could it take longer to finally get it out? Dr says I will definately know it when it is coming out. She put me on pain pills and told me to stay ahead of the pain. I don't know if that means that it will happen soon...or weeks away. This whole thing was awful so far...so I am nervous about the next stage. I have to capture all urine on the hunt for the stone so I can take it to the urologist for analysis. Not sure what to expect for size...even though it felt like a walnut today.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer. God bless...Lynn

Hi...sorry I haven't been on here in ages. I should really make more time for it too. I hope things are ok for you. How are you handling the chemo and radiation. I hope it isn't too hard on you. My aunt is going thru her 2nd phase right now too.

As for the stone...it was stuck. It was lodged in the entrance to my bladder. We tried meds and tons of fluids for almost 7 weeks before he finally decided to go in and remove it. That was not much fun...lol.

Recently adventures  have been that I had a Lap band surgery on Aug 19th. So am still healing up from that but so far it seems to be going pretty good.

Jeana is amazing. She is a miracle for sure. She still has a long road ahead of her but she sounds amazing. She is walking some but looks like they will need to do some more work on her knee. I am so thankful that she is doing good. Thanks for asking about her...that is so sweet.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I will try to get on here more to stay in better touch. God bless....Lynn

HI! SORRY I HAVEN'T BEEN IN TOUCH LATELY; I'M TAKING CHEMO AND RADIATION RIGHT NOW, IT'S GOING PRETTY WELL, CONSIDERING...WHAT CAN I SAY, GOD IS TAKING CARE OF ME, AS ALWAYS...
ANYWAY, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR YOU TO GET RID OF THAT KIDNEY STONE? I HAD MY FIRST ( AND I HOPE, LAST, LOL!) KIDNEY STONE LAST JUNE. BY THE TIME I WAS SCANNED, THE STONE HAD JUST GONE INTO THE BLADDER. I PASSED IT THE NEXT DAY, IT WASN'T TOO BAD, I JUST DRANK A LOT OF WATER AND STRAINED WHEN I WENT TO THE BATHROOM, AND IT POPPED RIGHT OUT INTO THE STRAINER. I NEVER DID GO GET IT ANALYZED, I PROBABLY SHOULD - BUT I'VE JUST BEEN SO BUSY WITH OTHER DOCTORS LATELY, YOU KNOW?
I'LL TRY TO STAY IN TOUCH NOW. AFTER ALL, YOU WERE MY FIRST OFFICIAL "FRIEND" ON MEDHELP, RIGHT?
                                                                GOD BLESS,
                                                                BEVERLY
P.S. HOW IS JEANA?

Thanks for the support. I sure hope it is over soon. I am drinking as much as I can keep down. It is better today but yesterday I jsut couldn't keep anything down. I was nervous that I would not get enough liquid in there to flush it out. I am sure hoping the rest goes quickly. Thanks again...Lynn

Good luck to you...although I've never had kidney stones I can certainly sympathize with kidney pain - it's like nothing else I've ever expierenced.
I hope you have some relief soon...I would imagine that if it's already in your bladder it will pass soon...drink lot's of water!
