Is my microalbumin result normal?

I am diabetic, just got my microalbumin random test result, microalbumin is 20mg/L, creat for malb 260 mg/dL, alb/creat ratio 8mg/g. Is this the normal result? there is no reference number applied, and I checked on the web, then found that 20mg/L may be  the highest normal number. With the ultra sound result that my kidney size is 13.7cm and 13cm, does it mean I am on the stage of DN? I am scared to death but my doctor just ignore all these results and suggest me to check it ONE YEAR later. Need some suggestion, many thanks.

my malb/creat ratio is   H 35.22
what does this mean?  I have been referred to a urologist.  What are they thinking the problem is? Is there something that I should do?

Thanks for the answer, so as you said, the microalbumin is almost out of the range, what kind of check do you think I need to do? My gp and endocronnologist all refused to referral me to a niphrologist, they told me my kidney function is perfect.
By the way, I always have ketone in the morning due to the too strict diet. Do you think if there is any effect of the result of microalbumin?

Thanks.

Hi,
Having such a high level of microalbumin in your urine suggests you need further testing of your kidneys... The normal level is 0-20 because ideally no protein (albumin is a protein) should be filtered out of your blood. Normally the pores that filter waste in the kidneys are too small to allow protein to come out.
The size of your kidneys are also normal. So are the other test results.
I don't think you are on the verge of Diabetic nephropathy.
As your doctor has suggested get it checked in 1 year's time or maybe in 6 month's time if you are extremely anxious.
Wishing you the best of health.
