Kidney problem???

I am a 38 year old female with a history of kidney infections in my left kidney. For the past year I have had attacks of renal colic and was finally sent to a urologist in Jan 2009. He insisted that it was back pain and was going to send me back to my regular dr. He had done several tests but had not done an IVP. I insisted that i felt that it was my kidney giving me the problems and he finally agreed to send me for an IVP. On returning to his office the next day after my IVP, we were both surprised to find that I had a blockage in my ureter along with Hydronephresis and blood in my urine. He felt that, even though he could not see a stone really, that it was a kidney stone lodged in my ureter. He scheduled me for surgery the next day and went in with a scope and blasted my stone. I did have a large stone and preceded to pass 4 stones later that night and the next day. After the stent came out a week later, I began to feel a little better. Two weeks passed and one day I had another attack. Went back to my urologist and he ordered another ivp. The second ivp showed a blockage in my ureter still. He consulted with a couple other drs and they looked at my renal scan that had been done and noted that my gonadal vein was huge and was running down right there where my ureter was constricted. They sent me to an intervention radiologist who proposed to go into that vein and close it off. (embolization). They did that procedure but I am now 3 weeks out from that and still having alot of kidney pain. My question is.....Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could still be causing the kidney pain? Any help would be appreciated along with any advice on where i need to go next to get this under control.  Thanks!

Did they put a stent in after your last procedure?  If it is still in, that could be the cause of your pain.  Have you been back for a follow-up with your doctor?  If not, I would call his office and let them know you are still experiencing pain.  It is good that you were so persistent in having him check your kidneys.  I truly feel we are responsible for listening to what our bodies are telling us when things get out of whack.  I have no qualms about questioning my doctor's actions and thankfully, he doesn't seem to have a problem with me asking so many questions.  Good Luck and Let me know how you're doing.
