If a kidney is in a state of hydronephrosis, would it specifically say that word on the CT report, or could it possibly be stated in other words such as "large" or "prominent"? I have a UPJ obstruction and am trying to figure out if my kidney is actually in a state of hydronephrosis or not because my Urologist said we dont need to do surgery until problems arise. (for example pain or damage to kidney) My CT scan doesnt say that my kidney is in a state of hydronephrosis, but it does say that my kidney is "large"..(not enlargedEnlarged adenoids Enlarged prostate)....just "large".
Reading your post i would firstly ask, did the doctor diagnose hydronephrosis?
If so then to wait for pain or kidney damage before anything is done seems suspect to me.
Without more information im feel i would be clutching at straws here, and as we know that can only leadLead poisoning to further worry.
If it were me........ as i said i would write these things down, and ask why wait? what is it? whats caused or causing it? what can be done now to prevent damage? and so on.
Sorry not much help, if you go back and get more information we would love to hear of any developments, or if you just need support. there are many people on this forum maybe someone has a better take on this.

Hydronephrosis is caused when water on the kidney which occurs when one or both kidneys swell because of a blockage to the urine flow resulting in back pressure in the urinary system.
I wonder why no kidney stent has been talked about.? and so many other things, i would write down any questions and worries, go back and talk more to your doctor, surely prevention is better than cure.
