Really hoping someone can help..SCARED!!!

Hi,

I'm really worried there's something wrong with my kidneys and would like to know if anyone can help shed some light on what's happening.  Last June after having my second csection i ended up back in the hospital in alot of pain. Pain seemed to radiate into my shoulder blades mostly on my left side.  The hospital that did the csection then performed an ultrasound of all the major organs that would cause this type of pain. Everything showed up all clear except tech said my right kidney is smaller then my left on the report.  they didn't say anything to me while in the hospital but my normal family doctor picked up on this when i went to see her weeks after.  She then booked me an appointment with a kidney specialist.  Anyway over half a year later and i'm finally getting in to see him next thursday.  Problem is i've been having a dull pain off and on in my right kidney (which is the one that was smaller)...i'm so scared the kidney is failing or else there's a stone blocking things up. I did have a stone years ago that passed on it's own but i had ended up with a bladder infection because of it. What are the symptoms of a stone that is doing damage to the kidney? Or kidney failure? Also if one kidney fails does the other always follow? Would i be in more pain if it were a stone or maybe an infection? It's usually just a dull ache but sometimes i do get little shooting pains.  Seems to be worse when i lift something heavy or bend down.  No fever and urine looks and smells normal.  Can anyone help or share your story of stones/kidney disease? I really appreciate it in advance :) Also what will the specialist do, does anyone know?

These pranayam exercises will help control the kidney problems and the side effects.Build up the timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after about a minute. The benefits will be noticed in weeks. You can do the madukasan for up to 21 times.Let me know your progress after 21 days.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully(quick sniff out) out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 10 to 15 minutes twice a day.
Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently(once in 2 seconds).

Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years -  do 10 to 15 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Also everyday, press the (kidney point) centre point of the palm of both your  hands 40 times with the thumb and press the tips of all fingers 40 times each.
To stimulate the kidneys: mandukasan(not for pregnant women) - kneel down(with feet pointing inwards, and sit on the ankles/heels, Vajrasan position), breathe in and breathe out completely and hold your breath, pull the stomach in, press both your  hands on stomach(on the navel), bend forward as much as possible keeping the head straight, hold for 5 to 15 seconds and come back up while breathing in. Repeat  this 5 times daily  to stimulate the kidney and pancreas.Mandukasan2 - Repeat the whole process, but this time with with fists of both hands pressing against the stomach.Mandukasan can be done sitting on a chair, if you cannot bend the legs.

i would but i'm not sure what's causing the pain...i'm worried it's something serious and letting it go on isn't a good thing.

Drink lotS of water and cranberry juice, tomato juice is good. Mind any allergies u have avoid any possible dehydration. Midol may help mild muscular discomfort but u should try to let the pains run their course. Keep a diary of fluids and pain and the location of it.

Unfortunately, I'm not a doctor and i'm not familiar with what you've described above. I'm a cyst/obstructive kidney-stone guy (because I've had them for 21 years now), but beyond that, my experience is limited.

The doctor checks the board about once a week, so hang in there.

I know the answer to ONE of your questions... "If one kidney fails will the other follow suit?". Answer: Not necessarily, unless you have bilateral kidney-disease (disease in BOTH kidney's as opposed to just one). A Nephrologist or Urologist should be able to clear this up for you.

You can live on ONE kidney, have no fear.
