Sodium-6-10 points below Lab Values

by distantwings, Jun 06, 2009 03:40PM
My PCP is all over my case about my Sodium, since I was overdosed with Coumadin in July, 2008.
She has threatened my dischsrge unless I see s Nephrologist IMMEDIATELY.  A CMP is normal in all values including potassium.  I have been Hypertensive (essential) since 1966 and have been medicated. I have no symptoms of kidney disesase, except  in ankles and feet,  since overdosed and given Frozen Plasm and Vitamin K. My INR was>12, PTT >150!  Diovan is BP med with HCT.  She states 6-10 points lower than values is "critical"? Then why am I at home for 3 weeks instead of in a hospital?  My INR is now therapeutic for 5 months.  Usually with Hypertension the doctors want your sodium to stay down, close to 135.  Any thoughts on the woman's insistance?  I, being an RN, BSN and a Master's in Health Science, cannot justify more testing (after 9 hospital stays in 10 months).- relative to the Coumadin overdose that has destroyed the valve in my leg that is irreversable. The Sodium is 129 on 5/27/09 and 125 on 6/3/2009.  I am on 9 medications and feel, 3 are new, and it is an interaction of all these together.  I have chronic back pain and do take M.S. Contin, Soma & Hydrocodone every 8 hours, after 8 back surgeries in 1999-2000. I am a young 62,  female widow with a very healthy diet.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  This Sodium Situation has been going on only 4 months.  I take Magnesium at 2,000 mg daily for leg cramps.  Healthcare in Florida is horrid.  They have run me to 14 different doctors!  Last week, she started on Cardiac (due to my age)  Thank you.    Best of Health to all.     distantwings
