This is urgent and important

My sister is 26 she has polysistic kidney disease, she also has polysistic ovary disease, high blood pressure, and she is borderline diabetic. She is also very much overweight, I believe she weighs about 266 lbs. I am not sure it could be more. She has a low function on each of her kidneys, I believe the right is worst then her left. She will have to have a transplant soon.  She has no job because of her schooling and because when she is trying to work she has so much pain it is unbearable and she can hardly stand. No job means no insurance, my mother cannot pay for her to have insurance because every cent my mother gets goes to her debt and payment on her car and house, and her father cannot cover her either. We cannot afford hardly anything. My sister has recently been in rolled into a program that will allow her to get health care through a free clinic. But in about a month or less that exspires, and she will have nothing in her most needy days. So we don't know what to do. Her free clinic doctor says that she needs to see a specialist soon, but again we can't afford it, and she has no insurance. Does anyone have any idea of programs or something that we can enroll her in so she can recieve the care she needs? Please it is most important and could save her life.

Given the fact that she isn't able to work doesn't she qualify for Medicaid? I would certainly inquire and soon as it takes 4-6 weeks for the approval process.
Best of luck to you!

I know that there are programs in a teaching university hospital. I had a friend that was in the same boat and had fibroid tumors removed. She got this kind of help. She should contact her local health department and DCFS office. That would be a good place to start. But there are many programs to help her. If all else fails call the hospital and ask.
