Urine

Hello,
I have been having some Kidney issues of late, though I don't know what's what as I am STILL being investigated.  Recently, I have been suffering from a sore back, pain could be left, right, middle [lower spine] though mostly it seems to be in the front right about where by upper rib is.  The pain seems to be getting worse [could it be serious?], and I noticed my urine getting darker, so I peed in a clean clear plastic bottle [I sometimes do that just to keep an eye on it] and I for the first time noticed lots of little black bits in my urine.  What on earth could this be?  I've had bright red urine a couple of years ago [blood and not diet related], and after that, I thought nothing would surprise me, but these little black bits really did surprise and indeed worry me.

Hi,
Considering your history of pain-feeling it in the back and the front below the ribs-what you could be passing in your urine are kidney stones.
the increased color could be due to microscopic bleeding as stones passing down might be irritating the urinary tract.
The fact that your pain is getting worse seems to confirm the fact that your kidney is passing out stones.
Keep drinking plenty of water as it will help in easy passage. If pain is too much you could getications prescribed for it.

Hey.  Sorry you are having problems.  I have read that kidney stones may be yellow, brown, tan, gold or black.  Maybe you are passing several tiny stones.  That would also explain the blood that you had previously.  Call your doc.  It is probably stones and when you get a diagnosis your mind will be at ease.  Good luck.
