Why do kidney cyst pain get worse with alot of movement

I've had severe pain off and on in my right side for the past three months so I finally made an appointment with my dr. An ultrasound was ordered and the results were multiple cysts with one on my kidney. I was sent to a urologist who is sending me for a CT scan next week. How can a small cyst cause so much pain and why does the pain get worse with movement?
