Will Somebody please respond, I feel like Im going to die... really..help!!

I recently went to my Dr. and had no idea what was wrong with me. I was in UNBEARABLE PAIN almost from head to toe. I was running a high fever, throwing up, , I had a headache that literally felt like NO OTHER I had ever had... and nothing would make the pain subside or even become bearable. He had me do a urinalysis which came back positive for a Kidney infection...a bad one. He gave me a shot of antibiotics and wrote a prescription for some too when I got home. Ive been taking the antibiotics  like Im suppose to, and eating bland, drinking ALOT .. (water, Gatorade, sprite, fruit smoothies) and it took almost 2 full days, but I'm feeling ....better... I guess. Im def. not stuck in bed, and the headache has gone down a whole lot, but the whole left side (kinda under my ribcage ..front to back) even the left side on the back of my neck... hurts, not badly, but quite a bit. From what Ive heard kidney infections are extremely dangerous. Im scared Im not going to catch something that I should, a symptom of some sort, and become fatally ill. I have a 2 year old, and this whole sick mom is scaring me out of my mind. What should I do? How can I tell if its gotten worse??  Can someone please help me understand this!!!

My URO often puts women who get chronic utis on an anitbiotic to take before and after they physical relationship.  This helps many women stay out of infection!

You need to get some cranberry juice and consume it. I am surprised your doctor did not mention it to you. Cranberry juice cocktail is good for urinary tract health, even says so on the bottle. It might not be a good idea to consume sprite even though it is good for nausea but plenty of water and cranberry juice cocktail are the best.  I am being treated for a UTI right now and mine might be a kidney infection also even though I am being treated as if it is a bladder infection, which I think it is judging from the tenderness in the bladder area, with Macrobid 100mg. I have read on this drug that it is not used to treat a kidney infection. I too have that weird catch type feeling in the flank part of my side under my ribcage. But this is something I've experienced about 4 or 5 times in the past year and a half and it never progressed to anything. I have no fever nor headaches nor vomiting. I have had these on and off symptoms for probably a week, not longer than a week and a half. I went a month one time with the same symptoms with the last UTI I had back a year and a half ago and it didn't turn into a kidney infection. She did tap the kidney area on my back and it didn't hurt though. I stay really tense with stress and the areas affected most are usually the areas of my back that I'm noticing the catch in. Hope things are better soon.

This happens sometimes.  I have had several over the years.  There were a couple where I was actually peeing blood.  Kidney infections are very painful and can make you sick and run a high fever.

Don't panic.  I do have a question for you and I am not sure if your doctor said something about this to you and it is personal.

When you are with your significant other, after sexual activity, are you using the restroom?  This is very important for some women.  Bacteria is inevitable and you should clear the pathway.  To do this, you need to use the restroom.  You can find many documents on this just by looking on the internet.

It is also very important to drink plenty of fluids daily.

Hope you're feeling better now. 5 days ago I stared to have the most dreadful backache which quickly progressed to me being unable to walk with the crippling spasms of pain.  I thought I had hurt my back while working on my allotment.  However a friend persuaded me to see a doctor and a kidney infection was diagnosed.  After 4 days of antibiotics I feel back in the land of the living however if I don't take the full dose of co-codamol the pain comes back.  The worse pain was when I tried to bend forward.
