autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease
Avatar_dr_f_tn
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Polycystic as the name implies, there is the development of multiple cysts in the kidney. In autosomal dominant type of inheritance only one copy of the abnormal gene is needed to cause the disease and it manifests in adulthood. The progression of the disease can be prolonged by lifestyle measures like keeping the blood pressures under check, maintaining optimum weight, avoiding smoking and exercising regularly. Follow up would involve imaging studies to see for structural changes and kidney function tests. Any further clarifications will be glad to answer.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
