kidney pain

hi there,i am hoping somebody can shed some light my problem.I have pain in my left kidney this pain  started some months back but was just a niggling pain that came a few times a week but in the last month the pain has got worst .The pain now is constant and has been for 8 days, i seen my dr 2 weeks ago and he done a urine test and blood tests the urine was fine (no infection) the blood test are due back in a few days he has also refered me to hospital for a ultrosound ( no idea when havent recieved a letter as of yet) .My big concern is that i am 36y old male and 21y ago i had an operation on my right kidney ,i am not sure to the exact details of my condition other than when my problem was daignosed my right kidney was twice the size it should be and they said if i didnt have a operation within 6 months it will need removing.Also the problem was narrowing of tubes from my bladder to my kidney i was born with it .Now all i can remember is i was in so much pain (came on straight away) and was voilently sick and in hospital that day, Do you think its related? also i have been really tired of late and my eating isnt very good i have been of my food. p.s the pain isnt acute pain but still is very painfull and constant and sometimes radiates to server pain its seems worst when i sit down too. Hope this info help you and i hope you can give me some answer back. thanks.

hi there again, been for my ultrasound which has shown up something i wasnt excepting in my right kidney is what looked like black round shaped, holes in my kidney the ultrasound technician said it looked like urine pockets  in my kidney.He showed me scans of both kidney there was a big difference in appearence, he then said he was telling my dr to refer me to a specialist as he couldnt see the stent put in 21 yr ago (no evidence of it anywhere) he also said that maybe your left kidney is working overtime to help the right  kidney which could explain the pain in my left side, then said they may operate to replace it also i have just got back and he said he was faxing the scans to my dr today and to make an appointment at the doctors in 2 days why so quick? any ideas? and also will these "urine sacks" will they do any lasting damage to my kidney?

thank you for your reply , got my scan date though today ,its in 2 weeks so not long to wait to find out what my problems are  :-)

I would suggest a CT or an IVP.  This could very well be you kidney and it wouldn't necessarily show up in your lab.  It could be a stone (which shows up like a lightbulb on the CT), or hydronephrosis (which they can see on a CT or IVP).
This is exactly where I hurt and I have hydronephrosis and a uretopelvic junction obstruction.  (the ureter is pinched where the ureter and the kidney meet, causing the kidney to balloon out)

The pain is left hand side below my rib cage , (between my pelvic bone and rib cage) but aches  round the back again below the rib cage .The pain is like a dull aching feeling with a stabbing pain occasionally.My blood results have come back ok so thats good but still in pain , thanks for the replies.

Exactly where is your pain.  Can you be more specific about the location and is it jabbing or burning, etc.

Looks like you might have a kidney stone.

For the last year i have had bad stomach pains and bad on/off diarrhoea i put this down to my eating and IBS more offen than not is it Diarrhoea.But for the last 8 days i have had solid stools told this the dr about my diarrhoea and he didnt seem that concerned just thought i would mention it.
