kidney simple cyct??

I have been diagnoised  with in a months time, a simple cyst in my R- kidney, tumor on my spine L-2,cyst on my L-ovary, and fibroid tumors in my uterus. This bothers me due to the fact my mom had renal cell in her R-kidney. They removed the r-kidney and all was well. 15 yrs later the left one had it .She had check-up appt every 3 months but they did not catch it somehow. The M.D. removed the L-kidney and found it had spread through out her body. She past 2 weeks after surgery.
My Doctor ran a nerve study and found I have 3 nerves affected. He has done a lumbar puncture a few days ago. I have to wait 31 days for the results.
My kidney Doc say's to wait 3-6 months before another MRI. I'm just afraid of the waiting. When I lye on my R-side and back at night it aches. Could they do something sooner to make sure about my R-kidney??
The reason they even found out about any of these issues is I had back spasms and had to go to the E.R.
Any Advice??

Thank-you,Debbie

Hi,

How are you? A simple kidney cyst is not an inherited condition. They're often found incidentally on a CT scan, or MRI exam of the kidneys. Simple kidney cysts become more common as people age and most often, simple cysts do not cause symptoms or harm the kidney. However, pain can occur when cysts enlarge and press on other organs requiring surgical removal. With your other conditions present, regular visits to your doctor and the follow up MRI are important in monitoring the progress of your kidney cyst.  Take care and keep us posted.

Waiting is very hard, but in order for the doctor to tell if there is any change in the size of the cysts, you have to wait.  Cysts don't normally grow very fast.  If there is no change and it is just a simple cyst, there is really nothing they can do.  It sounds like the pain you are having is from the tumor on the spine and the doctor has already done the lumbar puncture to see what's going on there.

I can understand your fear since your mother had the renal cell in her kidneys, but that doesn't mean you have the same thing and your mother probably had to wait three months, too.

Is there anything the doctor has recommended or could prescribe for the pain?  You are probably not sleeping well and becoming more and more anxious.  I would call the doctor with a list of questions and ask HIM.  He should be willing to take the time to provide you with answers.

Good luck!
