kidney stones

I had  surgery a week ago to shockwave my kidney stones and had a stint put in to help with the passing of the stones.  I have  had  one  week of  very painful urination. I feel the pain worse after I have urinated.  I can not see that I have passed any of the stones but it is so painful to urinate.  I was on  antibiotics for 5 days so I don't think it  is an infection.  Is  the feeling I am feeling grains of stones being passed?  I am afraid this  pain is never going away.  The stint is  do to come out in 2 more weeks.

Hi,
The pain is due to the passage of the stones.It is not necessary for you to view the stones.They may be too small to be seen by the naked eye.
There are various measures that can be used to encourage the passage of a stone. These can include increased hydration, medication for treating infection and reducing pain, and diuretics to encourage urine flow and prevent further stone formation.
Hydration includes drinking plenty of water- about 2 litres aday.
This helps to flush out the stone sediments.
For severe pain you could take pain medicationa prescribed.If required your doctor will prescribe diuretics.
