May I ask what the indication for the scan was?
Did you have any urinary symptoms,abdominal pain?
Management of this lesion shall depend on the classification given to it by your physician based on its image in the scan.An ultrasound may be able determine if a cystic component ( lesion containing fluids) is present.For instance,simple cysts without any significant characteristics like calcifications or necrosis may not need to be followed closely.In your case, are you symptomatic? In the presence of abdominal pain, change in urinary character, etc you may need to have this closely assessed.
At this point we can not tell if the lesion is benign or precancerous. For renal lesions, biopsy may not be readily done due to the invasiveness of the procedure.The lesion's character in the scan ,clinical presentation of the patient and the behavior of the lesion may help in guiding management.The location, size and character of this lesion has to be properly ascertained prior to any invasive form of procedure.
