I have been diagonised with medullary sponge kidneys and have had recurrentRecurrent cystitis kidney stones since 2000. Each bout that I have seems to be worse than ever, I need to find a physician that deals with this disease.
How are you? Medullary sponge kidney is a congenital disorder of the kidneys. It is characterized by a cystic dilatation of the collecting tubules in one or both kidneys. In most cases, it affects only one kidney, and kidney function is usually preserved. Many individuals may be asymptomatic but has an increased risk for kidney stones and urinary tract infection. I would recommend that further evaluation be done by your nephrologist. If you do not have one, ask your primary for a referral. Periodic screening for hematuria, bacteriuria, and kidney stones are usually done.
Take care and regards.
