Hi,

Corticosteroids especially prolonged use may cause unwanted side effects.Corticosteroids act on several aspects of bodily functions including immune responses, wound healing, digestion and also exhibits a feedback mechanism to other hormones in the body.

Prednisone as an immunosuppressant ( decreases immune response) may increase the risk for repeated infections. However, it is best to rule out any underlying infectious or structural cause for your repeated UIT's as well. A 24 hour urine collection, urine culture, and ultrasound of the kidneys ,ureter and bladder may help.
