what's my prognosis

what's my prognosis

At the age of 27 I was hospitalized with a blood pressure of 265/155 and almost no potassium, along with some other labs that were significantly out of the range of normal.  It turns out that the likely cause of my bp is chronic kidney disease.  I have been treating the symptoms with a nephrologist; however he just recently voiced my diagnosis of CKD.  My creatinine over the last five years has consistently been in a range of 1.3 to 1.9, my 24hr urine is prt of 170'smg/24 hr, and creatinine Ur 24 of 700-800 mg/24 hr.  In the last 6 months my GFR has been in the low 30's ml/min.  My triglycerides are extremely elivated at 2366- 1500 mg/dl, and I have a vitamin B-12 and B-3 defincency.  My current meds are Tricor 145mg once daily, Metoprolol 100mg twice daily, Niaspan 500mg once daily, Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, Quinapril 40 mg twice dailt, Protonix 40 mg twice daily, and vitamin B-3 and B-12 injections.  I am not overweight, exercise three times a week, but I am a smoker.  My question is what does my health future look like?  Will I need dialisis, if so how soon?  What about a transplant, is that likely?  How long is a person life span with my symptoms?

Hi Kathy.

I am curious to know something. Have your kidneys been checked for blockages? LIke have they done any iodine tests on your kidneys?
