This patient support community is for discussions relating to lap band surgery for weight loss, complications, finding a surgeon, whether it is right for you, nutrition, recovery, risk, and pre- and post-op issues.
No. A person needs to be at least 100 lbs overweight and have a BMI of 40 or more. Everyone seriously thinking about weight loss surgery wishes they only weighed 150.
Why would you even ask that question? Your mom's BMI is 25; within a normalNormal saline flush rage. Although she can be heading toward overweight rage, she seems just fine at that weight. So many people that are looking into having Lap Band surgery, like myself, could only wish to be at your mom's weight. All she should do is watch her calorie intake and walk. That is what I have done and I have lost weight doing it.
i woudlnt bother i had it 3 yrs ago, i lost weight whilst in pain waiting for the site to heal but since that it hasnt done a thing, they will judge whether she is suitable by her BMI and obviously that she is fit to have op.
