Lap Band Surgery; the good, bad, and ugly.

I am a 20 year old woman who has been fighting Hypothyroidism and Syndrome-X since age 14.  Losing weight has been the biggest issue for me.  I am a dancer/dance teacher so body image is very important when it comes to my appearance and pushing my abilities as a dancer.  Lap band is my last resort to getting trim and reversing my current health disorders.  Not to mention if I get diabetes, I will never be able to dance again.  I am just curious about everyone's personal experiences/opinions/whatever else about lap-band surgery post-op.

Thanks for the query.

I am very happy that you are  taking active interest in your health. Hypothyroidism is not a disorder which can be ignored and treatment also cannot be stopped.  People with diabetes can certainly dance and work. Waseem akram, the cricketer is a perfect example. As far as your  surgeries are concerned, any invasive surgeries will have pros and cons. If your BMI is well under control then try refraining from them. Take an expert opinion from an endocrinologist in this regard.

Have a healthy living.
