What I have found is that every insurance seems to have very different requirements for pre-approval so it could very likely be true. Your primary could be one and the weight loss surgeon could be the second. Have you met with a surgeon yet? They are really good at helping you through all of the insurance requirements. I had the lap-band but it was quite a process for either type of weight loss surgery. I hope it works out for you.
