lap band removal is scheduled

I am definitley having my lap band removed in 10 days.  My dr. said it could stay in and never bother me after I had it emptied today but I thought" why have this in me if it is not doing anything".  I am very relieved to be doing this and have a great doctor that will perform the surgery.  It is interesting in that all of my friends seem very relieved that I am taking the lap band out.  .  I did not have any problems per say with the band, just acid reflux and no weight loss in 2 years which was partly my fault.  I fluxuated between a 4-6 lb. weight loss over 2 years.  Has anyone had this done for the same reasons and were there complications after the surgery?

Hi. Why do you think you were unsuccessful at losing the weight?

hey there,
ive had my band for a year and a half, and no matter how much fluid was in it i always had pain vomiting and everything in between, no matter how long i chewed for!!!

over chrissy was bad, all the family round last thing i wanted was to chuck, as 2 grandparents dont even know ive got it, and on the other hand my nanna would worry, but i think its bad when you have been eating the same foods for weeks then it gets stuck, it was terrible the other day, driving home, and being slightly hot with all the tourists walking to the river and beach, i had to pull into a carpark at one of the beaches and through up!!!  that was the last staw.

its been good, helped my down 20kg, no idea what that is in pounds, so i saw my doc when he got back from chrissy holidays and said i want it out, im sick of the vomiting, so i got all the fluid out, then the next day, woke up feeling nauseated all day, (and no i wasnt pregnant!!!) and when i ate it just hurt, now, us people would assume, yep somethings wrong, lets do something, im a nurse and at the hospital the docs rooms is like downstairs!!  had to wait 3 hours!! did a swallow that was fun, and of course it was normal, and before i get it out, he wants me to have a gastroscope to see if either of my stomachs has been damaged!!!

cant wait till i get it out though, at a bbq last night and a sausage got stuck, and only the boys were drinking, so it would be weird if i through up!!

i hope yours goes well, tell all, especially if you think it hurts more!!

take care sus

hey all

i feel so much better with it out, although im eating a little more, im still watching what i eat, but have allowed myself little treats, but i still have manged to loose 1.5kg, without exercise cos i have my wound open cos it had massive heamatomas under it, or pockets of blood, and now need daily dressings to help close it over! lucky me!  but the surgery went well, the reason the band stopped doing its thing was that it was adhered or stuck in a very weird position to my stomach, all the pain is gone, so relived!

anyways have a great day everyone

I had the Lap Ban over 2 years ago; have not lost weight and am in pain most of the time. The belching is terrible and the back pain is unbearable. I have had success with different diets like the protein diet and now I can't eat meat without getting sick. This is crazy. I have recently admitted to myself that I should have never had this surgery but now am feeling so guilty because of the money I spent on the surgery and can't justify more money to have it removed. I try to suffer without complaining because I feel so guilty for wanting this so badly and feel in some way it is my fault because it didn't work. This was a terrible mistake.
