Do these CBC counts indicate any threat?

Do these CBC counts indicate any threat?

Doctors have only seen my CBC and CMP results for different years separately and separately they look OK. I ordered them for myself for 3 years from different hospitals and I see distinct patterns. These are chronological for 3 years for 2009 2010 2011.

...... 2009 2010 2011
WBC 8.5 4.2 4.5 [Ref Range 4.8 - 10.8]
RBC 4.83 5.1 4.9 [Ref Range 4.7 - 6.1]
NE% 75.3 57.3 41.6 [Ref Range 43.0 - 65.0]
LY% 17.3 31.9 44.4 [Ref Range 20.5 - 45.5]
MO% 6.9 8.6 12.3 [Ref Range 5.5 - 11.7]
BA% 0.3 0.2 0 [Ref Range 0.2 - 1.0]
NE# 6.4 2.4 1.9 [Ref Range 2.2 -4.8]
PLT 284 257 222 [Ref Range 130 - 400]

Other results seem unremarkable. Everything else I didn't include in here stayed roughly the same over the 3 years. Should I be worried?

Hi, I don't quite see a pattern except you had some infection, even a common cold maybe, at one point.

If you care to elaborate the pattern, I maybe could respond. I hope you're doing okay.

Thanks for the response.

In 2010 I got very sick, over the following year as you can see White Blood Count dropped by more than half. I am not even gonna get started on the symptoms, suffice to say suddenly I got so frail I've felt like I was 80 years old since then. It's progressing as you can see, many numbers are going in the same direction over 2 years.

Neutrophile percentage dropped 45 percent
Lymphocyte percentage rose 38 percent
Monocyte percentage doubled
Basophile percent dropped to 0
Neutrophile number dropped by 70%
Platelets are plummeting

I'm sorry, you are correct about the trends. I'd briefly scanned the numbers and saw that nothing was seriously out of range.

Anyway, my guess is that a doc would see mild lymphocytosis and neutropenia as a chronic viral infection.... maybe Epstein Barr or CMV. Elevated monocytes can also be consistent with that. Also, a virus can result in platelet destruction - though thrombocytopenia doesn't become worrisome until platelets <50, and people do sometimes get <5 with a serious disorder.

But after two years and with bad symptoms, I certainly would want to get this addressed. There is a test for antibodies to EBV. Even so, diagnosis of a virus often comes about when no other cause can be identified.

If it is a virus, there may or may not be anything that can be done. Antiviral medications are not as developed as antibiotics.

I suppose it's possible you have been through all of that with doctors already. In that case, you might look at general immune-strengthening strategies.

Concerning cancer: it's possible but rather unlikely. Cancer can invade the marrow and so crowd out production of normal blood cells. At the same time, if a cancer is of lymphocytes, their number can increase. But I wouldn't guess that any doctor would order a bone marrow biopsy with those numbers.

Good luck.

I think you might be picking apart every  little thing in your blood work.  Blood work does fluctuate even if there is no problem.
I have Leukemia.  I have CML, and mine was found due to high WBC.  Your concern does not seem like any type of cancer.  You could have something going on being your feeling so lousy.  I agree with Ken and his responses.  I did not see anything unusual in what you posted.  Everything is in range, and that should make you feel good.
You could always make an appointment with a Oncologist/Hematologist to get a definite answer with regard to the platelets.  They do not worry about anything until you get below 50 in most instances, which Ken also stated.
Get a Good Check-up for you peace of mind.
