Swollen lymph glands

Hi,

I have had swolen lymph nodes in my groin area for about 6 months. About 3 months ago I got swollen lymph nodes under my arms, large, around my neck and under my collar bone, both sides and above my elbows, about 4 glands each side above my elbows. I now have a rash on my forehead and sometimes on my arms, which when I scratch turn bright red, like I could scratch my name in. I have a bright red rash around my neck which disappears when i touch it and reappears brighter after. After a shower it is bright red. Could this be lymphoma??

Many thanks

Hey.  My name is Kim, I am 33 years old and I see we share some similar symptoms.  I have been searching for answers for about a year now.  With out medical benifits its been exhausting.  I also have swollen glands everywhere on my body.  I have these cyst like areas in my head, chest, breast, legs, arms, sides, stomach, and throat.  The ones in my head has grew since December and now there is another.  Went to ER because head was hurting and my left ear hurts alot.  The doctor says a cat scan don't show anything but maybe fatty tissue.  How is that when it is growing in my head.  I am lost Markie, myself.  I have lost alot of wieght and I itch like that as well especially after the bathtub.  I also have elevated white blood cell counts, elevated platlett count, and chloride serum.  So if you get an answer for your problems maybe you can email me or something because I am desperate for answers.  I am getting weaker by the day, I can tell and I am not crazy.  Kimmie112.

Hi again.
It’s good to know that your blood exams were ok.  However, the cause of the enlargement of your lymph nodes still needs to be determined.
I agree with a referral to a hematologist and the plan for a possible biopsy.  This will help elucidate the cause of your symptoms.

The blood test results show that everything is ok. So my doctor is stumped. He has referred me to a haemotologist for his opinion and possibly a biopsy.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your response.
I have been to my doctors and he has sent for another CBC, CMV Igm and Ag. He wants to see these results before he sends me for a biopsy.

Hi Mark.
The symptoms you are experiencing (low grade fever, chills, itchiness, weight loss) are non-specific symptoms.  It could be cause by a lot of disease conditions.  Lymphoma has B symptoms that are very similar to what you are experiencing.
I would suggest a biopsy of one of the enlarged lymph nodes.  Perhaps you may want to seek consult with another doctor for further evaluation.
Good luck.

Thank you so much for your response Dennis.
I have swollen nodes under my arms (3 each side), my groin (3 each side), above my elbows(3 each side) and my neck (2 large and 1 small on the right and 2 large and 3-4 small ones on the left). They don't hrt to touch. They are each 2-3 cms apart from those above my elbow which are smaller. In the last couple of weeks I have got spots on my forehead. I itch all over and have red patches in various places like on my knees and my arms. I still have a red mark all around the front of my neck and get two large bright red patches on my forehead. I have not had contact with anyone but I thought it might be scabies so i have used derbac. Its not worked. I have never had dermatitis before.  I thought it might be the washing powder but I have not changed washing powder in the last 3 years. I have seen my doctor and he does not want to try antibiotics again. My doctor agrees that my nodes are enlarged but does not want to send me for a biopsy. I have recently driven a long distance and my nodes around my neck started to make my neck ache. I have recently had really bad chills and occassinal low grade fever. I saw my doctor who weighed me, I have lost 6kg's since I was last weighed but I don't weigh myself often anyway. I am getting really depressed now as it is more and more often painful to cross my legs or walk sometimes. My CBC is normal, WBC norml, ESR normal. Allergy blood test normal. I had a midgy bit the other niht and my whole leg had a bad reaction, turning red like an allergic reaction, this has never happened before.
Can you please help me further.

Thank you.

Mark

Hi.
What symptoms are you experiencing?
You have enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, axilla, and inguinal areas.  Enlargement of lymph nodes could be secondary to an infection.  However, lymphoma is also a possibility and should be ruled out.
As for the rashes, it may or may not be related to the enlargement of the lymph nodes.  It could be secondary to a dermatologic condition like dermatitis.
You should consult your doctor for further evaluation and management.  A biopsy of one of the lymph nodes may be done.
Take care.
