What does "SUV" mean.

by joenappa, Oct 21, 2009 09:42AM
My wife had a petscan done and what does the following term mean and can a size be determined by this, "There is a large primarily pelvic mass, which is midline in location having the maximum SUV of 27.6"

Thanks,

Joe,

SUV stands for standardized uptake values.  Did your wife have a PET/CT?  If so, the CT
should give you the measurements of the pelvic mass.  The mass showed up as a "hot spot" on the scan.  Good luck.
