node under jaw line that pulsates

I have a what feels like a horseshoe node hugging my jaw line on the right side. I am seeing an ENT in 2 days to have it aspirated.  I just felt it and it feels like it is pulsating as my pulse would.  My dentist did put me on an antibiotic for one week when I discovered node 2 weeks ago.  The swelling did not go down.  He then referred me to an oral surgeon who has referred me as stated above to ENT. Concerned and confused.  Thanks for any input.

Thanks so much.  I will mention this to ENT before any aspiration.  If it is an aneurysm, can it wait until tomorrow morning?

Hi.

There can be many causes for enlarged nodes or lumps in this area of the head but what concerns me most is the pulsating nature of this lesion.  If this is indeed pulsating, then this maybe what we call a hemangioma or an arterial aneurysm.

The problem with these lesions is that if they are poked or aspirated, things can get really bloody.  I agree with the ENT consult and if there is suspicion that this is indeed either of the two entities I mentioned, then further testing may be required such as an MRI or angiogram before going into aspiration or needle biopsy.

Regards.
