There is really no clear cut-off for markedly elevated white blood cell count. It could be more than 30 or 40. However, the laboratory results should always be correlated with the clinical picture.

By your description of your symptoms, it seems that you are having neuropathy/neuropathic pain. The cause of which should be investigated as there are many possible conditions that could present as such.
What is your peripheral blood smear result?
Most of the time, patients with CML would have an enlarged spleen, with markedly elevated white blood cell count.
