/Bilirubin in urine

I went to the doctor last week as I have been having pain on both upper left and rt side of abdomen. They found bilirubin in my urine.  The AST/ALT, lipid profile, hyl pylori test all negative.  They did an ultrasound- normal.

Is this something to be concerned about? Do the negative tests rule out gall bladder or hepatitis?  I don't have any of the risk factors for hepatis (although I am worried because my husband is an alcholic and not sure if he can pass to me- and he binge drinks heavily.

In addition, for last 8 weeks have had pain under rt armpit and down arm, pain in collarbone.  Mammogram showed a 1.5 cm mass, but ultrasound indicated it was benign cyst, and there were 2 enlarged lymph nodes notes in breast, one was 3cm but the radiologist indicated it too appeared benign.   Due to the arm pain my doctor sent me to a ortho doctor. He suggested my doctor do a bone scan or mri, due to the pain under the armpit/collar bone.  But my doctor thinks it is my pectoral muscle as it extends from collar bone to armpit and doesnt think the tenderness is a lymph node issue.

Can the bilirubin in the urine be related to any of the other issues?  The arm pit pain is more an annoyance- I just wrap it with a elbow brace and ace bandage when it gets uncomfortable.

My doctor is suggesting I wait 2 weeks and retest... He said since the blood liver enzymes are normal that it isnt hepatitis.  I was taking ibruprofen for pain, but stopped since the ortho doctor said it wasnt muscle or bone related...

Any ideas? What will they do if I still have bilirubin in my urine? anything?

Do you have any other data or bloodwork to go with the urine analysis or was it an isolated finding? Anything extra would be helpful, the causes of impeded bile flow are numerous.

Hepatitis A, and B are sexually transmitted, C can be BUT, it's very rare. The bilirubin in your urine could be caused by a blocked bile duct. The liver creates bile and releases the enzyme into the intestines. When the bile duct is blocked, the bile and bililrubin can't make it into the intestines and must be expelled from the body through the urinary system. The pain can be a gallstone, or calcium deposit in the liver,(liverstones). Stones can be missed by ultrasound. This is only my opinion. Consult your physician on your individual case.

Take care, be well
