ALT/AST RATIO

My husband has been an alcoholic binger for 3 years now. His most recent bloodwork showed his ALT @ 179  and his AST @ 108.  (MCH @ 31 HCT @ 41)  Doc says stop drinking obviously.  I thought results with AST exceeding ALT were more indicative of alcohol abuse?  What does it mean if the ALT exceeds?

did he get an ultra sound to check for alcohol induced fatty liver i would suggest this
