Cirrhosis and fluid buildup every few weeks

I have cirrhosis caused by exposure to HCV & HBV 40 years ago. I take diuretics (Spironolatone & Lasix) to keep swelling under control. The first time I have experience ascities was 6 months ago. Since then I have flairups every so often. Most of the time the diuretics seem to work, but every couple of weeks my ankles swell and my abdomen gets bloated and I feel very ill. I am not changing my no additional salt on food diet in any way that I am aware of.

Is this caused by my liver's ability to function varying over time? Could this be caused by stress on my liver. Such as taking a Tylenol/Codeine med for kidney stone pain or by breathing paint fumes?

I am trying to determine the cause of my feeling ill so often as it is very difficult working consistently at my job while experiencing abdominal pain, coughing, headache, weakness, dizziness, itchiness, hand and feet/toe cramping. Could these be side effects caused by the diuretics?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
