Cirrhosis of the Liver symptoms, prognosis

My father is 63 and a heavy drinker, I never have known him to not be an alcoholic.    He is in complete denial, to the point of stating he has never really been drunk, only "buzzed".  I am concerned that he has Cirrhosis of the Liver, he will NOT go to a doctor, he never has seen a doctor in my lifetime, I am now 33.  I asked him to see a doctor and he refuses.  Recently, in the last year, his stomach has ballooned to look like he is carrying quadruplets.  His belly button is distended, because I can see it under his shirt popping out.  I have not seen him with his shirt off since I was a child and we had a swimming pool, so I do not know if there are any veins visible, I read that to be a symptom.  His stomach has always been bloated (I cannot remember him ever having a normal looking stomach), but in the past year it has gotten huge.  He is always tired, he will drift off to sleep in the middle of a conversation.  He cannot walk for long distances, he is so out of breath from walking about 100 ft I think he needs oxygen.  When he puts his shoes on you would think he just ran 5 miles.  A flight of stairs is almost impossible as well.   He does not wear shorts, so I do not know if there is leg swelling, he does complain of always feeling cold especially his feet.  His memory is very poor as well.  My mom died 10 years ago from diabetes complications and refusing treatment.  If anyone could let me know more symptoms, signs to look for and if this is Cirrhosis, what is the end like?  How will I know if the end is near?  Also, he will NOT stop drinking, again I asked him to many times, along with my children, but he cannot think of life without alcohol in it.  Any advice or information would be so much appreciated, thank you for taking the time to read this.
