Elevated Enzymes

If your enzyme levels are 4 times the normal in October  AST 226 and ALT 236 in April AST 26 and ALT 40.I do have MCTD so maybe AIH?Are these levels high?I don't really know if you have pain with liver damage but I have the symptoms just like when I had my gall bladder out in June.I did have more blood test Thursday 30th so probably will hear something on Tuesday.HOPE someone can give me honest info.on my levels.

Thanks,
Mary

You know I do get alot of bloating it swells up so large I mean my whole stomach where it hurts and it doesn't matter what I eat toast or a full meal is this normal? Can I ask if your liver enzymes are elevated or anyone here and what are you doing about it.The onle reason I can think of is the medication because I might drink 8 beers a month. This is all confusing and depressing. As far as Sjorgren's I have no idea but I will bring it up to the Rheumatologist.I don't understand it all.

RDT54 how are you feeling?Hope everything is ok with everyone.

Thanks again,
Mary

Glad your enzymes are dropping!  And as for upper right "bloat" pain - fullness discomfort, or call it what you will, Well, I can DEFINATELY attest firsthandedly to that feeling being very real and in concert with elevated ALT (AST), etc - for whatever the etiology.  I do know we are all wired slightly different, where  one guy might feel nothing with enzymes thru the roof - others of us can be in near agony with even a doubling of the high normal range. Also in my rudimentary knowledge of liver disorders - even temporary damage can take time to heal (assuming it can and hasnt cause fibrosis, cirrhosis, etc) - so going off an offending drug - it takes time for your liver panel to normalize - if its going to at all...

I cant speak for the higher cholesterol - but I do know that diet modifications can make for big improvements in HDL LDL and Triglyceride numbers (just not overnight) -

I think you'll find this article informative. It discusses liver abnormalities associated with Sjogren's Syndrome.

Hi Everyone,

Just talked to my Dr. and he said my Liver enzymes are elevated again but not as high.I'm hoping someone can explain this to me.The last test was by my Rheumatologist and she took me off of Methotrexate and now 4 months later it comes back AST-51H ALT-83H and also TOTAL CHOLESTEROL 245H,LDL 132H,HDL 101, TRIG.60 so what does all this mean?I'm also having alot of muscle pain for the last 2 months.

Thank you,
Mary

I've had pain and symptoms for over a year after my gallbladder was taken out. In the last 2 months they have been severe which led me to the emergency room twice in one week.  That's when they decided I had pancreatitis. Two days later the levels went down, but still dehydrated, diarria, vomiting which had my doctor suggest auto immune Hep Panel.  Until you get your test results eat clear liquids, jello, broth.  It will help with the pain and get a pain reliever if you can.  My prayers are with you.  RDT54
