Elevated Liver Enzymes

I had some routine bloods done - was complaining of hair loss. All came back normal except my liver enzymes. First test ALT, AST, ALP & GGT were all slightly elevated. Second test 2 weeks later ALT & AST were normal but ALP & GGT were still elevated but lower. Got another test and ALT, AST & ALP slightly elevated but GGT was way up. Doctor has told me not to drink for 2 months and retake the blood tests. I have been referred for a liver scan in the mean time.

I am terrified. I take 10mg of Citalopram everyday for health anxiety which started after I had severe high blood pressure in pregnancy. Only been taking this medication for about 6 weeks.

Has anyone any ideas. Could it be alcohol - I binge drink 2 or 3 times a month. Is it a possibility that it's the medication.

Any suggestions would help as I am so very anxious about it.

Look online at the side effects for citaloprom (celexa) - it is rare, but hepatic damage of varying degree has occured in isolated cases - and in one the connection was very obvious -

Drinking while on it is contradictory and really not good for you - instead of a gradual ramping effect of the drinking you get an "all or nothing" effect (and a hangover from hell)

Gosh, the only suggestion I have on any of this is until you find out what is going on to stop the binge drinking.  Under any circumstances that is not good for you.
good luck & hope you find out what is wrong
