Enlarged Liver NYD

I am a 32 year old female and over the past 12 years have been dealing with severe upper right quadrant abdominal pain.  No could figure out why.  I have been given possible diagnoses of: IBS, Gilbert's Syndrome, Gastroparesis and recently early phase dumping syndrome.

I have recently had an MRCP which showed that my liver is enlarged to 8.7 cm (5.'9", ~175 lbs).  I am not overweight and try to exercise when I can, but I get these attacks through my liver and out my back (right sided) that are so severe and excruciating. I cannot tolerate solid food (of any kind) and I am left with being stuck on a liquid diet for weeks (not fun).  I am not a heavy drinker as I find that liquids of any sort do not absorb into my body (I drink socially, 3 drinks when out once every 3 months).

Last week, I had a rash that was red, non-itchy, and looked like pin-points, this was all over (knees to shoulders).  The physician did have me on Celebrex.  Which I do know is a sulphamide and I am allergic to sulpha drugs, but in turn, the side effects to Celebrex also mentioned if a rash develops it could be related to liver disease...I was only on the Celebrex for 2 days, so I am still in the dark about the rash.

Often at times, I am waking up in the night because of the pain. The physician has put me on Naproxen to try to alleviate the pain and inflammation, but I find that after 6 hours I am in pain again (I am only supposed to be taken the Naproxen once every 12 hours).

My question is, with an enlarged liver NYD, should I really be taking Naproxen?? Also, does anyone have the same issue of having an enlarged liver with unknown etiology?

NYD seems to stand for - not yet diagnosed.

There are people with a liver condition where they cannot handle any alcohol at all.

I wasn't telling you what NYD meant; I was trying to help those who came after, trying to help you.  It is time-consuming to look up abbreviations, so if I take the time to look one up, I'm going to provide the answer for the next person reading your question.  I don't know why people seeking help don't type their terms out.  I know a lot of abbreviations, but there are way too many.

I didn't say YOU couldn't handle alcohol, I said some people have a condition where their liver can't handle alcohol, and they cannot tell they have this anomaly.  They get liver damage without ever knowing why, and it was tiny amounts of alcohol because their liver was defective.  I don't know if that is your problem, but you might want to try avoiding alcohol for six months and see if you do better.

I know that NYD means Not Yet Diagnosed - This is the stage that I am at, it is of unknown etiology right now.  I did not say either that I could NOT handle alcohol..Alcohol has no affect because it just flushes right out.
