it seems ok to take metformin with liver disease like NAFLD, but are high doses ok like 2000mg daily?
one study says metformin may be safe in liver disease patients. thanks very much for this info! I went to maybe 10 doctors and they never told me NAFLD means liver damage. there are some drugs to treat liver disease but I don't know how safe they are
is it good to take metformin? I read also that choline and vitamin E can help reverse NAFLD. I take milk thistle also
what happens with high AST ALT levels and FLD? is it the liver cells are permanently dead or scarred and ammonia is sometimes released now?
Hi there,
In fatty liver there is fat in the liver, along with inflammation and damage. . Fatty liver due to alcoholism is called Alcoholic fatty liver disease and the other one is Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which is due to obesity, diabetes and high triglyceride levels. Only if fatty liver disease advances a person can develop cirrhosis .The process can stop and, in some cases, reverse on its own without specific therapy. Lifestyle changes may be helpful. You should refrain from taking alcohol, as this will cause further injury to the liver. Treat diabetes if present and control obesity and high triglyceride levels. Adopt lifestyle changes like weight reduction, exercise etc. Consult your doctor for more queries and assistance. I hope it helps.
Best wishes and kind regards!
