Fatty Infiltration & Enlarged Liver

I was diagnosed with Fatty and Enlarged Liver. My Doctor said that losing weight (I am 6' and 290 lbs) can reverse the fat in my liver. I just want to know that if I do loose weight, what are my chances of avoiding Cirrhosis, and if I do get cirrhosis and catch it early what is the life expectancy?
