Fatty liver

I was recently told I had fatty liver after a surgery I had. I am not over weight do not drink and my blood work from a month or so ago did not show anything. (I am not sure what was done but she said my cholestrol was good) The Dr. told me she found it interesting that I had one and she could not figure out why. She said she was going to send me to a specialist but has not called with apt. yet. I am just wondering if anyone has ever had the same problem or knows anything about what could be going on.

Hi!  I am a cancer survivor and had a cat scan done.  It said that my liver was homogeneous, but decreased attenuation with fatty liver.  I also freaked out!  What is that?  My oncologist and gastro did not seem concerned, but I am!  All liver enzymes were ok, though.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Bella

Hi,

After doing a sonogram ultrasound of my abdomen to check for my kidney cyst i was told I have fatty liver. I am not fat. I exercise as much as I can. I do not abuse alcohol. I did drink more than I was supposed to but years back. I did not watch food I ate for the most part. I thought I exercise so I would burn fat.

My urin and blood work came out good. Only billirubin was 0.20, limit is 0.18. Dr it is right on the border. Dr. was not panicky about my situation. He told me to watch my diet, not drink much, and we will check blood after three months. No referral to pathologist was made nor any other tests.

Honestly, this cought me by suprise. I am freaking out about it. Of course I started reading aryivles about it on the internet, and that made the situation much worse.

Does anybody have any suggestions. How are you folks dealing with your situation now?

Thank you

Larry

Hello!!  I too was told I have a fatty liver and I am not a drinker but maybe the foods I ate were the cause...I eat almost nothing fried and try to stay away from fatty things...it is just very hard because everything has some form of fat in it seems...I found out when I had my gall bladder out and woke up in recovery being told they took a biopsy from my liver and it was fatty....I freaked!! I am by no mean heavy I excercise and have always had a boring healthy diet...I was like  " what the heck"....it seems that some people are more pre-disposed than others to have this..I have read if it's alcohol related, and you stop it will go away. I guess food related acts the same way.... I dont know for sure.
I wish you the best and hope it settles down

my husband has the same thing our dr told him it was just a matter of what he ate, to stay away from all fried foods.

This is the second time he has had it, the first time he just watched what he ate and it went away, then he fell off the band wagon started eating fried foods again and the fatty liver came back
