Fatty liver

My husband was recently diagonised with fatty liver where his AST and ALT counts were high. But on a regular diet his counts have come within normal range. His Gamma glutamyl transferase range is 132 which says quite on a higher side. What are the effects of High ggt? How can that be controlled? Doeas it affect his life style?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Liver enzymes are elevated in fatty liver disease. Fatty liver can be due to alcoholism when it is called Alcoholic fatty liver disease and the other one is Non alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is due to obesity, diabetes and high triglyceride levels. This can progress to cirrhosis of the liver and can be associated with hepatocellular carcinoma. So, prevention or cure is by avoiding alcohol and treating diabetes, obesity and high triglyceride levels.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I also have fatty liver and have had high AST/ALT.  I've been taking choline again.  I'm getting pale colored stools and was on a lot of prednisone and antibiotics and feel tired and had fever.  does anyone know what to do about this?
