Fortunately your husband doesn't drink and alcohol is one of the biggest contributors in developing a fatty liver. But other foods and sugary drinks can cause steatosis (fat) development in the liver. Fortunately though, fatty liver disease can be reversed and even eliminated relatively quickly, when compared to the other etiologies of liver disease.

By focusing on fresh, unprocessed foods as the main portions of his new, healthy diet, he can start on making his liver as good as new. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits with minimal amounts of vegetable or animal fats - olive oil is good.

Also, keep in mind that your husband's fatty liver is very mild, only grade-1 of a four grade scale, with grade-4 being the worse (well over 50% of the liver being composed of fat). Since his grade is minimal, simply staying away from high fructose sugar drinks will do a great deal in reducing what little fat there is. Exercise will help as well.

There is no need to worry or take extreme measures, your husband's health and liver are fine. Just focus on living a healthy lifestyle with fresh, unprocessed foods and taking frequent walks. You will both remain very healthy. Take care.
