Giant Liver Hemangioma-best place for treatment?

My husband was recently diagnosed with a giant liver hemangioma. It is 21x20x22cm. The surgeon said they won't resect it bc it is too dangerous that he would go into liver failure. They are asking a renowned interventional radiologist if he would try to shrink it with transarterial embolization but we haven't heard back yet. If he thinks it is too risky we would be looking at a transplant. He's 36 and in great health otherwise!  We are seeing doctors in Denver and I would like to get a 2nd opinion. Recommendations of hospitals or doctors to see? I just want to ensure we have options to get him help. This is scary because it seems doctors don't know a lot about giant hemangiomas.

Thank you for your help.

Sarah

Hi I know you don't really want him to have a liver transplant and believe me they aren't easy to come by.  There are many tests and requirements before hand.
I am just saying that the doctors here will be able to evaluate your husband and will come up with a plan to help him.  Regular doctors, even GI's may not have the knowledge you need.  I was seeing a doctor at a transplant hospital for a while.  I was just being monitored.  This would be the place for you to go to get the most information.  I'm sorry for all the replies, busy house here.

Hi I am so very sorry to hear.  I recently had another question very similar.  I found an article about it and will share with you
http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/177106-treatment

In reading the article it says that they are benign but I know it still worries you. If I were you I would find a hepatologist that is attached to a hospital with a liver transplant team.  They are very knowledgeable and might be helpful. I will try to take a look for Hepatologist in Denver area.
