HELP!! I was told my liver is not transferring to Intestines properly!!

I have had a pain in my side for years, my friends would always say it was my gall bladder, and one day it was going to hit me, and I would have my gall bladder removed. A few weeks ago, the pain hit me and lasted for days, My family dr, sent me for an ultrasound, and did blook work for gall bladder and liver. Nothing showed up, and my blood work was normal. She then sent me to a Gastroenterologist. Then they ordered the HIDA scan; those results showed that my gall bladder was functioning at 6%. Also they told me some other thing was wrong, that where my gall bladder and liver meet, the liver was not transferring into the intestines. What is this? What causes this? What is thtreatment for this? I cannot remember what they told me it was, I just remember what she said it meant. They have scheduled me to see a surgeon, but it will be 3 weeks before they will see me. I have to wait three weeks, and worry and wonder. I keep asking the Dr's office what is it,, what is the treatment,, and they just tell me I would have to discuss it with my surgeon. Does this mean I have surgery for the liver thing too? I just think its not very thoughtful to tell me I have something wrong with my liver, and make me wait weeks to find out. Can someone please tell me what this is and what they do for it??? Please help, I am worried

First of all, no one here (save for a doc) can really diagnose you - and if they do, take the advice with a grain of salt.

Now, many here can speculate what may be happenning between your common bile duct and gall bladder. Best to let a hepatologist sort this out. Maybe they will remove your gallbladder - maybe they wont - maybe ursodial will dissolve sludge - maybe you have no sludge -maybe you need stents - maybe you dont...all we can do is "guess" - but It sounds like your in better shape than many here (not that that may help much)... I will say that if something becomes "acute" with regards to this then you will know it (yellowing, colick, pain, etc) - as for the 3 weeks - if your in agony - see about getting in sooner - or if it is an emergency - go to the hospital

Very good advice. I called the Dr's office today and she did explain it further to me. the bile duct is strickened and they are going to place a stent. I still dont know what it all means or what causes it. They are going to try to work me in if someone cancels. The only symptoms I have is the constant pain, sometimes worse than others, and I am tired all the time, never feel refreshed, and I did read that fatigue is a symptom.

FATIGUE is very much a symptom (sometimes so profound you have to sleep about every 4 hrs)...  Ask your Doc if anything like ursodial will improve your situation with time. I imagine she will also check you for both PSC and PBC to see if there is a generalized bile duct issue.
