Hi I'm new to the forum. Just got over a mild case of pancreatitis. Dr did a Hep Panel on me because liver emzymes have been high for a bout 6 months. Hep Panel came back non reactive. Now she wants to do Auto immune Hep panel on me.
Question is if Hep panel is fine why would she want to do Auto Immune Panel?
Also I have thyroid problems, Shogrens, arthritis. If you have one Auto Immune Disease does usually mean you have others..
New at this please give me information. Thanks
Well I had the tests done the CT scan showed severe fat infiltration to the liver. After having the EUS there was no gallstones in the ducts which they thought was the culprit. I had a liver biopsy done 9/2 and they determined from that the changes were consistent with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. Does anyone have this and if so how did your doctor's go about this. My gastro. just said we will wait and see and do blood test every 6 months not that I mind but if there is something I could do to help the process I would like to. I appreciate any feedback you all can give.
I wish that they would do a liver biospy on me I have now had rasised liver function test for 6 months. Here in in england they just do blood tests and monitor you. It sounds a lot different in America
Hello everyone,
Oh thank you for the feedback. Not sure I understand the question of any overlap? Well at my appointment they were concerned about the how high the LFT's came back. I am now going for a CT scan of the abdomen and a EUS. They want to check the ducts to see if anything is lodged there then after those results we will wait and see and if necesary a liver biopsy after that.
Hello,
I can't give you more advise as all of the members above have covered everything well. :o)
The only other thing I would like to mention is, PBC can show a false neg.. Do you know if you had any overlap?
No I haven't had that procedure done. Thank you for the information.
I think I am going to go to my current Gastro. Friday to hear his opinion and if I am not satisfied. I am going to go to Scripps in California as I am sure they see more complex cases then where I live.
Thank you for your post.
Have you ever had an ERCP? I was misdiagnosed with several things including autoimmune hepatitis and PBC. I finally had and ERCP and it showed PSC, Primary sclerosing cholangitis. I also have pain in the abdomen and some other health problems.
You should go see a hepatologist at a big hospital or university if possible. Best of luck toyou!
Thank you for your feedback and all your information that you have gone through. I am hoping and praying for the best. I have not had a biopsy yet. For the past two years this has been the highest and it really jump from last November till the blood work done in May. It has taken me almost two months to get an appointment to follow up about the blood work and I am going to really push for a biopsy. I would rather be pro-active not reactive to whatever is going on with my body. Thank you for letting me know on the gender I changed it I guess it automatically went to that when I set up my profile and I didn't look down to see that. Take Care and thanks again!
Why does your profile show you as being a male?
Except for the ALT and AST and biopsy. I could have signed your post. I went through the same things beginning with having a child at 27- removal of gallbladdar, pain on side, back pain etc. I also had hypertension problems beginning then. So I was seeing a Dr. every six months and having blood work which was always normal. My alt and ast were normal 23 years. Then one night I had a nightterror , ran for help (I thought) hit a closed bathroom door and knowcked myself out thats when I ended up in hospital with a loss of memmory and unexplained high levels of ammonia in my blood. Had every test you had over 7 day stay. They found the degenerative disks osteoperosis ect. just like you. Then monitored my ammonia levels etc for six months couldn't find anything . I saw a nerologist, gastrointerologist every ( gist Dr.) that was available. Finally decided to send me for a biop. Had one done they messed up did'nt get liver, only lymph node and colon. By then I was really scared so I insisted on getting another one 2 weeks . Bad news they don't know why because I don't have hep. don't drink or do drugs. But they told me I have Cryptogenic liver disease ( which is sort of like NASH or fatty liver (don't have fatty liver , never had a real bad weight issue. They tell me I have ESLD which had to have started many years ago. So I have had to go through the process of eveluation to get on the transplant list. I pray you don't have anything like that. By the way why did'nt you go for a bio.? Take Care
