High level of SGPT

Gents,

My wife is 23 years old, she has been taken over dosage of paracetamol 500 mg (as self medication) last week, as a result of this over dosage her SGPT level is 74 (Tested two days back). And other tests results like SGOT, Serum Creatinine, Total Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase and Prothrombin Time are normal. INR level was 0.9.

Now doc says that no need to take any medicine, SGPT will be on normal by the passing of time.

can you please advice me what should i do. I am worried about my wife's health because i love my wife very much.

Thanks.

The liver has a good ability to recover from acute insults like this. I'm sure your wife's doctor will do follow-up liver function tests later to be sure her values are heading back, or have returned, to normal.

The most important thing you can do for her at this point is to (gently) impress upon her the danger of self-medicating, and (strongly) reinforce how much you love her and want her to be around to grow old with you.

Best wishes to you both...
