High liver enzyme

by Pam79, Jul 14, 2009 11:15AM
My daughter is 3yrs and has been reported to have a high liver enzyme, the LDH was up to 2000 and came down to

500.

This i presume is attributed to the frequent intake of tylenol syrup, she has been ill with continous fever since april 22nd 2009.

All kinds of investigations have been done, bacterial infection has also been ruled out so no antibiotic given.

Sometimes the fever goes as high as 103farenheith.We have been to the ER thrice, seen a rheumatologist, infectious disease specialist and the last stage is a gastro-enterologist.

The plan is to have a colonoscopy, endoscopy and liver biopsy done by the gastroenterologist.

I am not comfortable with this because i believe her liver enymes shot up due to the tylenol. This medication  has

been changed to Motrim syp which helps a great deal but my concern is she keeps having a nose bleed like 3ce in

two weeks following the administration of this med. This fever comes most times when she lies down in bed be it morning or night, she complains of cold, joint pains and the moment she is given tylenol she becomes happy and playful in abt 45mins or an hr.

Her genotype is AA.

I am so confused cos this is the 3rd month she's been this way,she lost like 3and half pounds but gained like 1 and half pounds in the past 2weeks.

I suspect she has a recurrent malaria cos we came in from Africa 1yr ago,a negative malaria test was done but further labs like the thick film wasnt done.

I have asked the physician to run a course of antibioic who knows, this might stop afterwards,i will like to know if Zinnat syp is safe in regards to the elevated liver enzymes ,what other type of analgesic can i use so it doesnt affect the liver.

I am so worried pls respond.
