I don't believe that your information is correct about airborne transmission of hep b. If you have any sources for your statement please post them. I would be interested to read any material which adresses airborne transmission of HBV.

From the CDC at   http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/index.htm

"Hepatitis B is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It ranges in severity from a mild illness, lasting a few weeks (acute), to a serious long-term (chronic) illness that can lead to liver disease or liver cancer.

Transmission: Contact with infectious blood, semen, and other body fluids from having sex with an infected person, sharing contaminated needles to inject drugs, or from an infected mother to her newborn.

Vaccination: Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for all infants, older children and adolescents who were not vaccinated previously, and adults at risk for HBV infection.
Information for:  Public  |  Health Professionals"

If airborne transmission was a likely or common transmission route I would expect the CDC to mention it. I think it is highly unlikely that casual contact is the source. But, I am open to any new information you can provide.

I got hepatitis B from a person I shared a room with at a hostel.  We did not have sex or other close contact, but we slept in the same room for about three days, used the same washroom and shared a drinking glass.  You don't have to have sex with someone to get Hep B from them.  For the first few weeks, the virus is airborne.  You can also get Hep B from a toilet seat.  So you could have gotten the bug from anywhere.  Your doctor should have told you this, especially given the obvious emotional stress this situation would cause you.

I abstained from alcohol for a year and recovered completely.  I have not had any problems in the 28 years since.  There are several herbal remedies you can try also.  Good luck.

If I were you I'd want to personally see all of your husband's test results before worrying about what other way you could have contracted hepatitis b. Sexual intercourse is one of the more frequent, if not the most frequent, modes of transmission of hep b, along with needlestick injuries in health care workers and injection drug use. If he has been having sexual relationships without protection with other women and you have been monogamous I would tend to believe that he gave it to you. How he could test negative and give it to you is something I do not have a clue about. But, I don't know a lot about hep b so maybe someone else can give you a more informed response. Mike
