Is it a Liver disease?

Last May 2015, Ive been diagnosed with fatty Liver, My Sgpt and Sgot were 80.33 and 52.71 respectively. I experiencing right abdominal pain and also back pain. After taking meds and diet, my Sgpt and Sgot became normal, but i'm wondering why the pain on my abdomen wont gone and also my back pain which are signs of liver disease. I've been undergo Hepa Screening and all the results are negative. I would like to know, when you have normal SGPT and SGOT is this means that you don;t have liver disease or is there any cases that the SGPT and SGOT are normal but yet you have a liver disease?? can you enlighten me please... thank you....

There are people that have chronic, end-stage liver disease but without an significant osteodystropy. So only your doctor will be able to determine whether you have bone/joint issues, and whether it has been caused by liver disease. I hope you do not have anything to worry about.

The usual way the liver affects the bones is be reducing the bone mineral density (BMD), resulting in osteopenia or osteoporosis. And once weakened, then degeneration begins to happen. Fortunately there are ways of stopping the damage, and sometimes improving things.

Let us know what your doctor finds out. Take care.

I will follow your advice to check if my spine has damage. Do the damage of the spine related to liver disease? what will be my worst condition if ever? is there any cure if ever?

Your vit-D will be low if it is liver related. As your liver becomes congested and the bile flow is somewhat impeded as well as its composition changes, your GI tract wxperiences malabsorption issues with fat and fat-soluble vitimins: A,D,K, etc.

Unfortunately it seems you may not have any choice wrt imaging of your spine to detect any damage. Xray is the cheapest, CT and MRI provide a lottle more detail but are pricey. My spine damage has shown up on all three imaging techniques but it is extensive.

You said to check my Vitamin D and calcium levels. What should be the result if I have some extrahepatic issue? It should be lower or higher than the normal levels?

Certainly your enzyme levels indicate some liver issues. And yes, if you have a chronic liver disease, especially over a period of many years, pain and in particular, joint pain, can be all related.

The first thing to do is to get a diagnosis and this will set the basis for the possible extrahepatic issues. Also, check your vitamin-D and calcium levels as well. Getting a BMD (bone mineral density) check is a must do.

I've had a long term liver disease myself, and pain - joint/bone in particular - goes with it. I have osteoporosis and other osteohepatic issues. Hopefully you haven't progressed as far.
