Is there anybody that could help to understand my liver tests?

by atldianabryant, Feb 25, 2009 01:43PM
I recently wrote about a liver pannel I've done about 5 months ago that came back with my AST and ALT fairly high ( AST 39 and ALT 81). I just went to the doctor two weeks ago and retested everything.
Here is the results:

GGT: 12
Protein total: 6.9
Bilirubin Indirect: 0.6
Bilirubin Direct: 0.1
Bilirubin Total: 0.7
AST: 19
ALT: 22
Alkaline Phosphatase: 51
Albumin: 4.2
A/G Ratio: 1.6

I hope the doctor calls me to tell what that means. In the mean while... is anybody out there that could help me out?!

Thanks,
Diana.

They look great to me.
I don't know what you did but, whatever it was, it looks like it worked well.
ALT is the most specific liver enzyme and the normal ranges with which I am familiar are:
ALT is 9 - 60. AST is 10 - 35, GGT is 3 - 85 and TOTAL BILIRUBIN is.2 - 1.2.
These ranges are from Quest Diagnostics and I assume they are for men. I suppose that the ranges for women may be different but, if so,  I would think they are only marginally different.
When I look at your numbers I really like what I see.
Good luck,
Mike
